Trip Introduction

Koshi Tappu wildlife reserve is full of activities that includes morning jungle walk by the river lagoons, wetlands, canoe ride, slide shows, bird watching, cultural dances, visit unique village settlements, boating, bird watching and elephant ride.It has engraved a position itself as a birdwatchers’ glory. Over 300 birds are available at the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve for birdwatchers with the internationally endangered Swamp Partridge. A wide range of faunal species inhabit the protected area. In its water courses and ponds, 200 species of fish have been recorded, most of which are resident. Two toad species, nine frog species, six lizard species, five snake species, 11 turtle species are recorded. Gharial and Mugger crocodile occur as well. The Koshi River also supports sparse populations of endangered species such as the Gangetic dolphin and Gharial. Beside wildlife, you will also have the spectacular view of Mt. Makalu and the visit to Koshi barrage can be memorable experience.
Taking a raft down the Koshi River is another alternative for exploring the reserve. The beautifully decorated homes and their way of living of Tharu people which is not affected by urban influence can be interesting part of the tour. Koshi Tappu is the ultimate destination for any nature enthusiasts and experts visiting Nepal.

    Upon Arrival at Koshi Tappu, Check in to your designated room and get freshen up. Lunch will be served around 1 pm and then your activities begin at 3 pm.
    3:00 pm: Birding in the nearby surroundings of the park.
    7:00 pm: Dinner.

  • Day 2Koshi Tappu Tour Activities

    • 5:30 am: Wake up call. 6:00 am: Bird watching in to the jungle near by. 8:00 am: Breakfast. 9:00 am: Departure to Kathmand81 m/ 266 ftu.

    5:30 am: Wake up call.
    6:00 am: Morning nature walks within near vicinity.
    8:00 am: Breakfast.
    9:00 am: Soft Wildlife rafting on the Sapta Koshi River with naturalists to help you view some of the water birds, water buffaloes, dolphins and various marine and jungle wildlife. End boat trip by the bank of the river and have picnic lunch. Enjoy Short drive to the Koshi Barrage to view the bird life and fresh water Dolphins. By Late afternoon return to the camp.

    *Flight Fare - Kathmandu-Biratnagar-Kathmandu costs Approximately 230 USD per person.

    There are different means of transportation to reach to Koshi Tappu. A 45 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Biratnagar and one and half hours drive from Biratnagar to the Camp is the easiest way. Travel by bus much cheaper but rather long that take 10 hours from Kathmandu to the reserve.
