We will first visit, the stupa of Swayambhunath (Moneky Temple) with its all seeing eyes is perched on top of a hillock overlooking Kathmandu Valley. Swayambhunath is perhaps the best example of the religious harmony of Nepal where both Hindus and Buddhists flock to pay their homage. This Buddhist shrine is considered to be over 2000 years old. It is interesting to visit the temple in the early morning when devotees flock the temple for their morning worship. The front access to the temple has 365 steps leading to the top and each step represents a day of the year. We take an alternate route with a drive to the top and a 5 minutes climb to the temple.
It is a 30 minutes drive to Boudhanath Stupa, another important Buddhist pilgrim’s site. The stupa's massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal. The Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath dominates the skyline; it is one of the largest stupas in the world. Every morning and evening, many Buddhist devotees come here to pray and circumambulate enabling the visitors to observe local religious practices. [Lunch at Boudha]
From Boudhanath Stupa, It is about 10 minutes drive to Pashupatinath, a sacred Hindu temple located on the banks of Bagmati River also considered the holiest cremation ground for Hindus. The existence of Pashupatinath temple dates back to 400 B.C. and is believed to be the oldest Hindu temple in Kathmandu. The main temple is built in Nepalese pagoda style having four main doors all covered with sheets and covered by copper roofs of gold plating. It comprises of 264 hectars of land including 518 ancient temples and monuments and is recognized by UNESCO World Heritage site.

Our first destination is Chisapani after walking about 4-5 hours from Sundarijal. The weather in Chisapani is always cold as its name is Chisapani, meaning “cold water” in Nepali where you will enjoy the real boon of nature being away from the noise of Kathmandu feeling better to be away from crowded busy city life and your interaction with the local people will add another experience. Walking through a jungle and hearing bird chirpings to Lapsi Phedi from Chisapani is a pleasurable excursion.
Overnight at Chisapani
After breakfast, we continue with our trail to Nagarkot. After 3 hours walk, we will take a lunch break at the village named Chauki Bhanjyang, which lies in between Chisapani and Nagarkot.
After the lunch, we will continue our walk for another 3 hours to Nagarkot, probably the best hill station nearby Kathmandu; it is very famous as a viewpoint for having panoramic views of north and east Himalayan ranges of Nepal including Mt. Everest.
Wake up early morning for the most fascinating and mesmerizing sunrise view reflecting on the White Mountains.
After breakfast, we continue with our trail for about 5 hours until we reach Dhulikhel (1,550m), another beautiful hill station. There we will stop over for a lunch and then we will drive to Namo Buddha (2,565m), 12 Kilometers from Dhulikhel.
Namobuddha is very conveniently located and beautifully decorated monastery, that greets you as you walk up to the hill top shrine. It is a famous Buddhist pilgrimage site with rows of Buddhist stupas adorned with fluttering prayer flags. It is most interesting to visit the image of the Lord Buddha in his compassionate manifestation. The carved stone image portrays a popular legend, which relates that the Lord Buddha in his previous incarnation had offered his own flesh to save a starving tigress and her cubs from the imminent death. There are wonderful views of the mountain ranges from the hill top shrine stretching East to West.
After breakfast at the Monastery, we will drive about 1 hour 15 minutes to Bhaktapur (Bhadgaon in the past), which is situated 14 kilometers east of Kathmandu and covers an area of 4 square miles. Bhaktapur means the city of devotees. A lot of pottery and weaving can be found here, as these are the traditional home industries. The Durbar Square of Bhaktapur holds precious architectural pieces like the Golden Gate, the Palace of 55 windows, and the Lion Gate etc. People and the place still remain traditional. The museum of Bhaktapur contains various old paintings, sculptures, and handicrafts. The residents of this city are highly regarded for their skill in making exquisite woodcarvings and handicraft goods.
The third of the medieval city-states in the Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur was always described as the best preserved. Tragically, however, the 2015 earthquake caused terrible devastation and loss of life. Nevertheless, only a few temples were destroyed, there is still much to see here, and tourism is vital to the community.
After exploring this beautiful city and having lunch, we will return back to Kathmandu.
After Breakfast, Transfer to Airport to connect with the onward flight.
