The BEAUTIFUL LAKES of Nepal
Most of the people around the world prefer to target the sea-shore as the destination. Nepal, as its’ land locked country in itself, the limited LAKES are its’ ultimate destinations.
Lately, the trend of exploring places is taking its gradual pace of development. As most of the human life is spent on land, to experience the enjoyment on LAKES gives the better refreshment. Nepal, with the natural beauty owns some of the most beautiful LAKES where numerous people visit from around the world.
RARA LAKE
This is the largest lake among Lakes in Nepal. The sceneric beauty during the sunrise and sunset admires and lures everyone. It is located at the height of 2990m (9810ft) above sea level entirely in the Ramsar area of the Rara National park in Mugu and Jumla district. It spreads with the length of 5.1km and breadth of 2.7 km having the surface area 1.8 km square and depth of 137 m. Tara LAKE is declared as the Ramsar area in 2007 B.S.
TILICHO LAKE
This is the lake located at the highest place of Nepal. The distinct feature of this lake is that no any aquatic animals are found here.The scenery of the hills around the Lake adds beauty of the Lake. It is entirely located in the Annapurna Conservation Area of Manang District at a height of 4919m (26,138 ft) above sea level. It is flattened with the surface area of 4.8 km square with the depth of 85 m (2879 ft) having 4 km of length and breadth of 1.2 km.
PHOKSUNDO LAKE
This is the deepest Lake of Nepal. Its’ depth is 185 m (476 ft).The lake, located in Dolpa district is at the height of 3615 m. With the surface area around 4.94 km square, it has the length of 5.15 km and breadth of 800 m. This Lake is declared as the Ramsar area in 2007 B.S.
GOSAIKUNDA
According to the historic belief, During the way to Himalaya range, when Lord Shiva dug the sword at Niladri hill, the flow of water from three taps merge to form the Gosaikunda. It is believed that taking bath with the water of this lake removes all the chickenpox, polio and so on. It is located at the height of 4380m above sea level in the Rasuwa district. Locating in the Langtang National park, it has the surface area of 13.8 hectares. The peculiar fair is organized in this place on the auspicious occasion of Janai Purnima .
PANCH POKHARI
This lake, located in the Langtang National park has five lakes. The naturally gifted five lakes in the same place is worth watching. It is located at the highest altitude i.e. 4100m above sea level. The big fair is organized on the occasion of Janai purnima so, there seems the crowd of tourists at the mean time. Famous mountains like Jugal,Langtang ,Rolwaling ,etc can be vividly observed from this place.
CHHO-ROLPA
Cho-Rolpa lake is located at the altitude of 4580m in the Dolakha district. With the surface area of 154 hectare, it is located in Gaurishankar Conservation Area. It has the maximum depth of 270m with the length of 3.45km.
FEWA LAKE
This is the most visited lake located in Pokhara. It is at the altitude of 742m (2434 ft) above sea level having the Tal Barahi temple centrally located supplements the beauty of the lake. The surface area of the 4.43 square km has the length of 17km and maximum depth of 24m.
